Bermuda Win in DCC Tune-up
Bermuda beat Miami FC one nil in a tune-up match for their upcoming matches in Group C of the Digicel Caribbean Championships. Jason Davis scored for Bermuda in the 14th minute to give Bermuda a one nil lead that they kept for the rest of the match. As none of Bermuda's overseas players had joined the team yet, head coach Kenny Thompson and the head of delegation Anthony Francis both made second half appearances in the match. Thompson, who is a former Bermuda international himself, was reportedly quite impressive in his cameo.
This was Bermuda's final stop before heading to the Cayman Islands, where Group C kicks off on August 27th. Bermuda's squad includes star strikers Khano Smith, John Barry Nusum (both American-based), and midfielder Reggie Lambe, who plays for the Ipswich Town reserves in England. Smith will only play the first match against Antigua and Barbuda due to club commitments. They will, however be without many defensive and midfield stalwarts who played in their surprising victory in the first leg of their World Cup Qualifier against Trinidad and Tobago as well as the subsequent loss in the second leg.
Starting 11 against Miami FC:
Timothy Figuriedo, Kris Frick, Antonio Lowe, Kijuan Franks, Darius Cox, Devaun DeGraff, Jemeiko Jennings, Roger Lee, Casey Castle, Tumani Steede, Jason Davis
Subs: Nigel Burgess, Kenny Thompson, Anthony Francis
Squad for the Digicel Caribbean Championships:
